candidate with the right client.
The most important point to keep in mind before actually making an offer to a candidate is to be prepared for both an acceptance of the offer as well as a rejection of the offer. It is possible that a candidate may have job offers from other organizations as well and in such a case, the candidate will opt for an offer which is the most lucrative in terms of salary package and career options. Here are a few points to keep in mind before making a job offer to a shortlisted candidate:
-
It is important to find out about the salary package, medical benefits, compensation and other perks offered by the candidate’s previous organization. If possible, it is best to get a detailed breakup of the candidate’s latest salary structure. Based on what he/she was getting, a new salary package and other benefits needs to be worked out. Most candidates expect a higher salary, better benefits and perks as well as productive career options when they switch jobs. However, if your organization is unable to meet the candidate’s expectations in terms of a salary package, it is necessary to present other positive reasons for the candidate to take up the offer like offering employee stock options, bill reimbursements, assuring timely promotions etc.
- If you are certain that you want to hire the candidate at all costs, it is advisable to chalk out an alternate salary package as well. This can be offered as the second option if the candidate chooses to negotiate a higher package.
- While making an offer to the candidate, it is also important to outline the candidate’s career graph at your organization if he/she decides to take up the offer. A candidate who is looking out for a job needs the assurance that he/she is enhancing his/her career prospects as well.
- Use the right language when informing a candidate that he/she is being considered for the job. Letting the candidate know the feedback of the interviewers and about his/her positive points which are best suited for the job makes the candidate feel special and confident at the same time.
- Keep at least two other candidates in mind who can fill in the job vacancy. That way you still have options to look at if your preferred candidate turns down the job offer.
