At Gold Recruitment we take pride in our professional ability to match the right
candidate with the right client.
The world today has become much more competitive in all ways. Choosing the right
candidate or a potential employee has become a tougher challenge for organizations.
The most important point to keep in mind is to choose a candidate who not only has
an impressive record and desirable qualifications, but who can adapt to different
situations at the workplace and execute given tasks efficiently as well. These days
it is not enough to merely possess knowledge about the job, it is also important
to get along with other team mates and follow instructions well. The ideal candidate
to employ would be one who is knowledgeable about the job, can work well in a team,
has set goals and ambitions and who understands the vision of the organization.
Here are a few tips on how to identify such a candidate while taking interviews
for any organizational position-
- Begin by testing the extent of the applicant’s knowledge about the job. Be warned
that there are bound to be candidates who pretend to know the answers to everything.
An experienced interviewer however will have no difficulty whatsoever in identifying
such candidates. The ideal candidate does not show off his knowledge, but takes
time to think and answer any question asked.
- It is important to analyze the degree of participation and behaviour exhibited while
working in a team. The best way to assess this, is by giving the group a team oriented
task. This will tell you which candidates work best in a team, who possesses natural
leadership qualities and which candidates are not team players.
- Multi tasking is an important part of any job and it is essential to determine the
attitude of the candidates towards taking on additional responsibilities and tasks.
Many candidates prefer not to move out of their comfort zones whereas there are
other candidates who are eager to learn new things. While taking the interview,
ask the candidate to give any example of multi tasking which he/she undertook at
his/her previous organization. If the candidate does not have any prior experience,
ask about his/her attitude towards multi tasking.
- An ambitious candidate is one who will not only excel at his/her job, but is also
likely to stay with the organization for a longer period of time. It is essential
to gauge the ambitions and career plans of a candidate who is being interviewed,
as that will tell you if the person will be an asset to the organization.
- While assigning marks or points to the candidates during the interview process,
it is also important to discuss the results with the rest of the interviewers. As
opinions differ from person to person, it is possible that your colleague may have
noticed a positive or a negative point about a candidate that escaped your eye.
Discussing the candidates and their performance in detail will help the interviewers
to make a better decision.
